Feast of the Dormition Vespers & Litya this Friday; Liturgy Saturday morning

We celebrate the feast of the Dormition of the Most-Holy Theotokos on Friday August 14 & Saturday August 15, with a festal Great Vespers & Litya (with Artoklasia, the breaking of blessed bread) and Divine Liturgy the next morning at 9 AM.

We commemorate the blessed falling asleep of the Mother of our Lord, the Holy Virgin Mary,as Orthodox Christians calling her in Greek Theotokos, 'God-bearer', thereby confessing boldly that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was born of Her immaculate womb, begotten of the Holy Spirit.

We have approached the celebration of this feast through preparatory fasting from meat and dairy products since the beginning of the month and conclude it with a splendid service.
